Beckie Upton

The work centres on explorations into animal-made objects and natural forms. Her work explores the boundaries between: natural and man-made, human and animal, disgust and beauty, fact and fiction. She is fascinated by the abject in connection with insects, fungus, mould, cocoons, birth, mating rituals, webs, eggs, nesting, the female and the body. A Fibre Artist, working in a 'hands on' manner she constructs and crafts elaborate and detailed installations and mixed media work
