Amy Higgins
Amy Higgins received a Masters degree in Fine art from Bath Spa University in 2012 and was shortlisted for her short film "Article 43" by the Golden Knight Awards in Malta in 2010.Amy's work explores the duality of human and nature, home and nomadic, fear and courage, life and death through elaborate pencil drawings, photography and installations. Her drawings depict curious animal and human hybrids such as minotaurs, crow-people, dolls, circus freaks and other fantastical beings who dwell in the dark shadows of her surreal imagination giving her work an eerie, haunting ambiguous sensation. She is inspired by the symbolism of mythology in classical prints and Dutch Paintings from between the 15th, 17th and early 19th century.
